Oct 21 Seminar will empower Seniors to Outsmart Scammers

From artificial intelligence to crypto schemes, Scam Smart: Protecting Seniors from the Newest Scams gives Montanans the tools to stay safe.

Kalispell, Mont. (Sept. 25, 2025)-- Montana Commissioner of Securities and Insurance James Brown will headline Scam Smart: Protecting Seniors from the Newest Scams, a free, two-hour seminar designed to help older adults protect themselves in today’s fast-changing fraud landscape.

The program will cover the latest scams — from AI-generated phone calls and text phishing to cryptocurrency schemes and investment tricks — and provide practical, easy-to-remember steps to safeguard personal information and finances.

“Scams are evolving faster than ever before, and seniors are often targeted first,” said Commissioner Brown. “This seminar is about empowering Montanans with the tools they need to spot fraud, stop it early, and protect their hard-earned security.”

Commissioner Brown will deliver opening remarks, with additional presentations, real-life scenarios, case studies and resources provided by co-hosts My Glacier Village, Immanuel Living, the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce, and Representative Courtenay Sprunger.

“Fraudsters are getting smarter -- so can we. This seminar will provide our seniors simple, practical tools to fend off emerging scams using artificial technology and digital currency so they can feel confident when a suspicious call or offer comes their way,” commented Representative Sprunger. “Protecting our community starts with good information.”
